ok this is what happened, I was trying to clean spyware and a hijacker of my comp, by mistake I deleted a few windows startup programs, now windows wont boot up, it will hit the windows xp screen then a blue screen, the only thing I can do is move my mouse, I dont see any icons, so i need to restore the deleted files, i need to know the best way to do this, what I have in mind now is to take my HD put it in another computer as a slave and go into the recycled folder and restore the files, will this work or is there a better way to do this?

Thanks

...try booting in safe mode (f8),

try system restore, prior to date of error,

rycycle bin should be on all drives hidden, ex. c:\ recycle , d: ....,
try using explore my computer, or do search....:)

safe mode doesnt work,
i turned system restore off when i was trying to clean the spyware out so that doesnt work either,

i dont see any hiddin files that say recycle

i went to run and used e:recycler
that brings up a folder with another folder in it called ntprotect then that has files in them, but all the file names are numbers, and i cant tell wich ones are the ones i deleted, the only way i can tell anything is by the dates, but i dont want to restore the spyware i removed, is there anyway i can see the names of the files, or can look them up somewhere?

I cant remeber the names of the files i deleted off the top of my head, but i would know them if i seen them , i deleted about 7 of from the windows folder and system32 folder

have u tried for safe mode by pressing F8 at the boot time try it 1st.
" if u r using any mail client plz take backup of that by making HDD salve on other machine.
u can go for a REPAIR,boot the system from XP bootable CD, on first page REPAIR option, dont select it, press enter, otherwise u will go into the console repair, then press F8 button, now again u will see REPAIR option , now select R for repair. from here onwards XP CD will start loading files again.it will take around 25 minutes to inatall. bye.

safe mode doenst work, it boots up and has safe mode in the four corners but again all i can do is move the mouse around, there are no icons or task bar,

on this repair option will it ask for the admin PW, because I can get to that point, and it wont execpt the password, i'll try it again and I will post the outcome,
thanks for the help

Not true. when using recovery console and it is loaded from the XP/CD you have 3 tries before it will ask for a password. You can also edit the registry so it will never ask for a password.
