Restoring Back-up Files

i backed up my whole hard drive then installed xp deleting everything, how do i load the back up files onto my computer again? please e-mail me!
I bet that you think you can copy back your programs and have them running on XP. WRONG!! You will have to reinstall all your programs under XP.

no, not programs, i used East CD Creator 5 to make back-up files onto CD, i want to install all the back-up files. I just burned my harddrive onto 8 CDs (in back-up format). i want to get all those files onto my computer
I may be wrong, so don't take this as gospel, but if my memory serves me right EZCD5 was an all or nothing deal. I 'think' you can not pick out individual files or folders to restore. I'll repeat, I'm not positive of that.

The simple answer is that you cant. You have used the wrong format to back up your files and you can't extract individual items. The ideal would have been to use Ghost and that system allows you to extract individual files and folders. Looks like you have a long job ahead of you!

Summary: If your friends are all using 2000 or XP then they could use the built in ntbackup program to do the backups. Naming them according to date isn't really necessary as the backups are time/date stamped...
