Before I start, I have to tell you that I am no expert on computers, so forgive me if I sound a little stupid!
Basically, I have been using an Acer Aspire desktop for a couple fo years, and it has gradually slowed down over time, and I think it is time for some action.
I have done various virus/spyware scans, disk cleanup, defrag etc etc, so I feel like a completely fresh start. I will make sure to backup any files that I need.
I have heard about pressing Alt + F10 when the PC is starting up, and this apparently takes you to a recovery screen, which basically erases your PC and leaves you with the factory settings. To be honest, this is what I want- to have the PC just like it was when I got it out of the box.
If anyone could help I would be very grateful!
Thanks

The info you are looking for is HERE. I assume you understood that once you start the recovery process there is no turning back, and that you have already backed up everything dear to you.

Let me restress XpUser's comment, BACKUP your data before doing anything. Once started the process wipes the drive and everything you have is gone.
Good luck
Richard

I forgot to add one more thing ... before you do it, first download & burn XP SP3 to a CD for use after the recovery. This will help eliminate the need to apply over hundreds of individual XP critical updates & security patches.
