I builded a ghost image that I hope I can deploy on 400 PC later on. The problem is that we have multiple PC and laptops that are different one from another on Hardware. I would like to know if there is a way to sysprep a machine and ghost it and then restore it on a differet machine that has different Hardware. I tried and it hang at mup.sys. I don't feel like creating 30 differet type of images. It's there a way to do it.
Thank you

hello
befor doing ghost go into device manager and remove every thing.than boot to ghost floppy and do ghost image. this will cause the ghost image to be instald with device manager to look for all new hard ware on boot up.
but if its xp home it will shut down after 30 days because there is more that 30% new hard ware than the computer that the image was made from . if xp pro it might not.

Dave is correct. The home and Pro versions will want to phone home for software changes and activation. If you have the corporate version (which I would hope you do with that many computers) then this is not an issue. The corporate version works great with Ghost.

Also make sure you have the Pro verion of Ghost as the home version has had issues with XP.

You may also want to run sysprep before you ghost the master computer. It will strip out the SID and there are other options you can set to strip out devices so the load will be more compatable across different hardware situations.

Yes, I would do this MAYBE for one system copy, but for massive deployment like this I would only utilize the correct tools to do this job.

WAY beyond the scope of this forum see Microsoft.com for 'XP deployment'.
