I used Nero to backup my documents and then retored my system vack to factory spacs due to some type of virus. My problem is thatwhen I try to open the backup discs to open a file it says it does not regognize it and I need to choose a program to open the file with. I have been ablr to open a couple butu they are unreadable , just a bunch of squares and weird symbols. Please help as my wife and daughter both have important school info that needs to be recovered. Have you installed Nero back onto the pc? Before posting try google. Backup. Use anti virus software.

yes Nero is on the computer with the factory settings. Do I need to use Nero to reinstall my photos and documents some how? Thanks for the continued help with this topic.

Now I feel like an idiot, I spent over 5 hours yesturday on this and nothing, you mention Nero and I figure it out. I did have a problem, I have 3 discs to restore (all created from my back up at the same time) but about half way through the second disc Nero said the restore failed for some reason. I checked and so far it looks like all my files are on my computer again. Nero showed just over 10,000 files to be restored, but it only made it to around 6,000. Any ideas on how I could finish this or should I just start the restore over again from the beginning. Thank you

I certainly would recommend retrying the restore. But my feeling is that whatever caused the first restore to fail might happen again. Possible corrupted disc? If the disc is not dirty or scratched, Nero tech support might be needed to get around the problem.

everyhing seems to be there now, even after a couple days of using it as normal. So I'm no longer worried about it. Thank You very much for your help, you rock. Jim
