I've windows XP installed in my system . Add/remove programs file c:\windows\system32\appwiz.cpl file got corrupted somehow. So i deleted the same and extracted it back form the XP installation cd . Restarted the system. Now when i open the Add/Remove programs list from the control panel, nothing appears in the installed programs list :(
Is there any way to get the list back? I've lots of softwares installed in my system which doesn't have their own uninstallation program.
One more thing i noticed , Programs currently being installed also are not captured under add/remove programs !!!
Please help me to resolve the issue :(
Thanks
John

the best thing to do now, and what you maybe should of done is go
start > all programs > accessories > system tools > system restore
choose to take you computer to an earlier date then find a date before the file currupted and click restore, restart and see if it helped, if not go back to system restore and undo the last restore just to be on safe side and wait for someone with another idea
hope that helps

Hi John,
A windows repair reinstall may your only option...but first take a look to see if any of the linkable links on this page would help you
Knowledge Base Index Using Search String [Windows XP Add/Remove Programs](The Elder Geeks)
Hope this helps
