can anyone please tell me on how i restart windows xp in ms-dos mode?

A draw back to XP? Far from a draw back, it is what makes XP so stable.

There is no DOS in XP, it does not exsist.

Maybe not DOS, but you can start in safe mode with command prompt.

Just before the Windows boot screen appears, start tapping the F8 key.
Use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode with Command Prompt, and then press ENTER.

Not quite DOS, but as close as you'll get with XP.
