Restart pauses until mouse moved

Microsoft Windows server 2003 enterprise
September 30, 2009 at 01:39:58
Specs: Windows 2003
Running windows updates on all our servers weekly, on a handful of servers the restart after applying updates pauses on shutdown until the mouse is moved at which point it continues.

I have tried uninstalling the mouse and letting it reinstall.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is causing major headaches.

Many thanks

Odd. Might see event logs, might have to setup perfmon.

Might be acpi issue in either bios or when installed.

Thanks for your reply, you are right it is indeed odd. There is nothing in the event log and as far as I can see the system seems perfectly happy, it just pauses. I have found an article from Microsoft which looks like it is the exact problem so have made the changes they suggest. Will report back after testing.

The article is here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938...

I think that is a better solution.
