I have a Acer Extensa 2308 notebook, bought 2nd hand, replace HD coz was dead. thats working fine now, install windows and all.
But got 1 problem thats annoying me.
Bios does memory test which takes a good 2-3 minutes each reboot, and then pc stops at end of bios checks with this error.
'Resource Conflict - PCI Network Controller on Motherboard Bus:02, Device:04, Function:00
Press F1 to resume, F2 to Setup.Setup is very limited, no IRQ settings, just boot priority, security, info, and main only has few options.
How can i fix this

Is there a BIOS option for Plug & play aware OS?
You may be able to stop the memory test by enabling fast start in the BIOS.
I have found some BIOS screens to be very cryptic. You may need to consult the manual on the options in the BIOS.
Are you booting with any PC Cards attached?

You shouldn't have any conflicts. WinXP can share IRQs.
Did you check the date and time in the BIOS to see if battery is holding the settings?
Below is a link for your manual. Doesn't give very much information about the BIOS settings.
F2 at start up to enter. Specs do mention the possibility of Wireless LAN. If your unit has that you may need to disable the internal Network adapter. They may use the same resources.
Have you followed the F2 prompts?

I don't even know for sure you have wireless. The manual refers to that OPTION. Also mentions Bluetooth. Don't know if you have either one. If I had to guess I would say no. However, something is conflicting with your network chip.
Does your wired network connection work?
I suspect there may be some cryptic method to get more options. Maybe undocumented keystrokes. Look on the net for Acer forums. Possibly someone more familiar with your laptop can help with that.
