resolution problem after insatlling windows xp ?

July 15, 2012 at 06:32:53
Specs: Windows XP, 512 MB
I was running WINDOWS XP professional sp2 ...and i have disk of sp3 so i wanted to upgrade so i choose UPGRADE option. SP3 disk was in worst condition so while i copying files during installation i got warning for this four files.

so i downloaded that 4 files and renamed it to vga.sy_ ....etc and moved them to $WIN-BT$ folder (so installation can go ahead )

but unfortunately WINDOWS XP SP3 installation failed.. so i abort the process by pressing F3 .
Now when i logged in my old SP2 version everything is fine including my portable wifi driver also ...But my scrren resolution is now 4 bit :( .

and also some time in applications i am getting message that ..FAILED TO INITIALIZED DirectDraw.

Here is the steps i already followed : (i am pretty technical )
-installed driver for my INTEL GRAPHICS 82845G
-reinstalled driver
-rollback driver
-replace above mention four files by download from net and paste in c:\windows\system32
-updated directx

And yes one more thing : THERE IS small exclamation mark in yellow background at Intel graphics 82845G driver in device manager. And in property its showingg...Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)

please help me.

Service Pack 3 is not an upgrade it is a single file !

Googling is quicker than waiting for an answer....

You may run into an issue with product registration if you use a disk from another system.

Try to perform a system restore and then download SP3.
