Hi all,

Just a quick one, when I had a business I bought an acer desktop PC which served me well so I bought another one which is slightly different (I think only difference being the CD Drive on #2 was a re-writer).

Question is, I have lost the recovery disks for #2 but, loosely, would the rescue disks for my original one work?

Thanks

Paul

I don't know the answer about Acer.

But I have used the same disk on about 4 different Fujitsu Siemens desktops/Laptops.

Before posting try google. Backup. Use anti virus software.

Thanks Clive - that's what I thought, after all the 2 machines are very similar...

Since they are recovery discs and not installation discs I would say that they would work....most laptop builders use the same programs for restoring/recovery from a hidden partition...

If it requires a reinstallion disc as one of the restore features then I would be leary to use it...These discs have preinstalled drivers designed especially for your computer. Installing these to a different set-up could cause damage to your computer.

In my experience, OEM Restore CD's will give you an instant error message if run on a system that is not supported.

If the Model numbers are the same, or at least in the same family you have a better than even chance that it will work.

The CDRW should't make any difference except that Bundled CD rewriting Software may be missing.

There is nothing to learn from someone who already agrees with you.
