Hi,

I would like to know if there's a way for people to see my IP address using either AIM or DEADAIM. I know you can see it when you transfer a file or when you make a direct connection with someone else, but is it possible to view someone's IP during a group chat on AIM or in any other way that isn't either of the two things I just mentioned?

Also, if this is possible, how do I prevent someone from seeing my IP in a chat on AIM when I'm using two different screen names? (one using AIM and the other with Trillian).

I'll explain the second part better. I'm in a group where you should remain anonymous. I logged into the group chatroom with two different screen names and someone claims to know I was the one using both the screen names because they "saw my IP on the AIM IP log". Whether this is possible or not, (I am sure this person was bluffing, there are many other ways this person could have known it was me, hints that are very obvious and easier than seeing my IP, that's why I don't believe them. anyway...) but even when I know they were bluffing, I'm still curious to know if it is possible and how can I prevent someone from seeing my IP in a chatroom when I login using two different (or more) IDs.

Thanks, I hope that made sense

Stay out of chat rooms, Its for lonley devorced woman and desperate married men.
But If you are one of the above i think their is a way to do it to a degree, i think you can get software for it, not sure what its called,I dont use Aim so im not familiar with the program but have used yahoo and msn , i think they can see your ip if you havent got it hidden very well.I had my mates girlfried trying to get onto me under a annonymose name just coz she thought i would cheet on my wife and wanted to proove it ( i provrd her wrong) but I told her i had a program that told me her ip address and i knew the bodgy name was her (i didnt realy but it was ovious who she was) shes a bit of a geek and she told me later when we were having a laugh about it that their is programs that can do it.

You have IP instantly when you're online.
If you log in to any chat sw, it will record IP>username pair.

Now, since you are on same net connection, your second username will bear same ip.

even if you spoof your ip, you change ip, but you still have one. I dont think you can get 2 ips for only 1 connection...I could be wrong...
