Hi I currently have Trend Micro PC-cillin as a anti virus program and would like to replace it with a Norton Symantec Anti virus program and would like to know what the pest practices would be to do this? Are there any pitfalls to lookout for? Thanks.
Run the Norton uninstall or the Windows uninstall for Norton (found in Add/Remove programs) Then check Windows Explorer for left behind Norton folders and delete those. Try a registry cleaner to further clean things up; many here use RegSeeker, which is "free".

Shouldn't be a problem - uninstall Trend, restart machine (even if it doesn't prompt) and install Norton (though I must admit I wouldn't install Norton AV - read too many posts where its caused problems. If this is personal machine, why not try AVG free personal edition? Very unobtrusive - but it works).
Sorry I got things a little backwards......'was thinking uninstall Norton and install Trend. Never the less, you shouldn't have a problem, just remove all remnants of the previous program.
