If you mean System File Checker, in the command prompt window, use the command SFC for a list of available commands. See too MS KB Articles Q310747 and Q222471.

there is a command to replace all important dll files by copying them from the windows xp disk....but i forget what it is

Yes, I think you're looking for the system file checker utility. If you use, for example, the command: sfc /scannow, the utility will prompt you to insert your CD. Use SFC at the command prompt & you'll see a list of available commands.

If the SFC does not work do a manual repair install. Put the CD in and run setup. Choose R in install menu and go to manual repair. There is a check box that comes up where you can replace all the critical file to XP. bye
