Hi everyone.

Recently i've noticed that the "WMI" winmgmt system isn't working. (found in the System Information utility)

And if i go to "add and remove prgrams" and click "Add/Remove Windows Components", I get an error message saying:

"Setup library fxsocm.dll could not be loaded, or function Fax0cmSetupProc could not be found.

Contact you system administrator. The specific error code is 0x7e"

All these errors only started to appear after i did a scandisk including repairs of bad-sectors. I therefore presume that when windows was scanning the disk it must have changed some files or couldn't repair them properly.

I've tried going back to the earliest Restore Point that i have, but even that doesn't fix it.

So i was wondering, does Windows have a repair function like some programs such as MS Office does in it's installation options. I've tried looking on the CD but it only gives me the option to "Upgrade or Fresh Install".

Is there an easy solution to all this?
(and please don't say format and start again!!!)

:D

I've tried running "SFC" as well, but that doesn't fix anything either.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks.

well if you actually have the xp disc you can do a repair:

boot to cd, wait for it to load everyhting, then will ask if you want to install, say yes, agree to liscense. then it will look for previous versions of windows, then it will say it found it, and to install push and and to repair press R, so press R and it will go through the repair process, which looks a lot like the install process, but it should not reformat, or change any files, if you get a screen that asks if u would like to format then you went to far, hope this helps
