Reover Notepad++ file with 'nul' (power cut)

July 7, 2011 at 00:33:37
Specs: Windows XP, 3GB DDR
I was editing a file in Notepad++ which I saved. Unfortunately I did not close Notepad++ application and there was a battery backup outage and my PC abruptly was powered down in an instant.

When the power was back on, I opened my file and found only 'nul' 'nul' 'nul' 'nul' 'nul' all over doc. However my file is of size 12kb. And the size of 'nul's added is to the same size as the previous length of the document.

I would really like some help here, as its a week's work I've put in on this. I would like to recover this file.

I'm also attaching a link to the SCREENSHOT

Please help.

I don't have a solution for your problem, and unless you have a backup of the file I doubt there is one. Notepad++ can maintain a backup of files it edits but it does not do this by default.

This is yet another reason why you must always have a backup of important files. Data can be lost for a wide variety of reasons and you must be prepared when (not if) this happens. If the file is of particular importance you should have at least 2 backup copies stored in different locations. Having a single copy of an important file is asking for trouble.

TheMorph3us, couple of things you might try (no promises). First is 'restore'. It MIGHT come up if you're lucky. Next is a proggie called 'Recuva'., I'm told it can do miracles. You might also try one of the following:
recover data -
recover data - free)
recover files -

recover files -
