Sorry if my info is wrong I'm copying what's in my system information on my computer, I have Windows XP Pro, AMD Athlon XP 2000+, 1.68 GHz, 512 MB RAM and I've been having a problem with my computer for awhile now. Every now and then I'll open up Internet Explorer and get a pop-up balloon saying, "The file or directory C:\WINDOWS\system32 is corrupt and unreadable. Please rund Chkdsk utility". This I have done often and it gets rid of it, but then the same problem occurs in a few days time. When I reset my computer, Windows automatically runs a checkdisk and solves the issue but it comes back. Nothing can be actually corrupt because about two minutes ago, I was listening to an mp3 and a pop up said that that exact mp3 was corrupt but I was listening to it as I was reading it! It also said that Flash MX.exe was corrupt but it was opening and running perfectly but it always says it's in system32. Also what I've noticed is that random files (mp3's, video, Premier files and Photoshop files mostly) have just gone down to 0kb for no reason. I have two harddrives, the second having all my personal files on there and they are the ones getting corrupt. I formatted my computer a few months ago because I got the sasser virus and things ran smoothly for a couple of weeks but it just started again. I had to re-format my pc again about a month ago now because I had a corrupt login file (had the blue screen of death when I started windows up). I also get VPU recovery (ATI RADEON 9200 SE) when I demand too much from my computer, especially in Cinema 4D, is that the cause of the corrupt files? Or is their a conflict between drivers? I had to install my printer (Lexmark 1100 All-In-One) today and I uninstalled it afterwards, not sure if that has anything to do with it. I updated my BIOS two days ago, 'Gigabyte GA-7VM400M' motherboard, but the only noticeable difference is that the pop-up is saying specific files/programs instead of just system32 in general. Anyone have any answers?

ummm it seems like maybe you got some bad cluster on your disk drive (that is not good)
i suggest that you do a chkdsk /f in mscommand and reboot and save all you things..
after i would do again a chkdsk but this time with a /r (chkdsk /r) to see if really have bad cluster...if so .. get another disk

I think Snipes' suggestion is good. Run it on both drives.
chkdsk c: /r
chkdsk D: /r

Also, check your RAM.
Memtest has an ISO for creating a CD

Chkdsk /r takes a 'long' time!

How do I do that? I've run chkdsk /f and /r but I can't read the summary because my computer restarts before I can do anything, or am I doing it the wrong way? The thing is though, what is now my second hard drive used to be my first and I had this problem on that one. Now I have my brothers old hard drive as my master drive, and he had no problems with it at all, that's why he gave it to me. So how do I read the checkdisk summary? And what does the memtest do? Is it possible for all of this to be a heating problem?
