A PC tech had to wipe/reformat my hard drive for me. The tech reloaded my Windows XP Home Edition. He registered it to "Stephan". This also became the Computer Name.
I attempted to change the Computer name and eliminate "Stephan". I went to Win XP's Start >My Computer(rt click) >Properties >Name >Change...and named my computer "PC1". This sems to have worked.>>>Problem: Using all left clicks, I now click WinXP's Start >My Computer >Local Disk (C:) >Documents and Settings ...I see two folder icons displayed..."All Users" and "Stephan".
When I try to rename the folder "Stephan" to something I prefer, I get a warning advising me "Stephan is a system folder...Windows needs it to operate correctly...cannot be renamed or delted...(or the like)."
What can I do to rename this stubborn "Stephan"? Do I need to reload WindowsXP again? What about Svc Pak 2? Is there an easy way to change the name that Win XP is registered to?
Thanks in advance,
Serob48

There is nothing you can do except demand that the tech reinstal XP. BTW did you know that Stephen is also the default administrator account created during XP installation? This account cannot be deleted except by clean reinstallation of XP.

New problem....when I try to re-install Win XP, I get a warning that my current version is newer than the one on the Win XP CD-rom....tells me all files will be lost forever.
This is because I have the Svc Pak 2 update loaded onto my PC as well. But, the CD for the Svc Pak 2 is separate and is installed after the install of Win XP.
Where can I find a step-by-step to re-load all this myself without losing all my data, files, etc.?
Thanks in advance,
Serob48
