Gooday folks to ya all.
Using freeripper I ripped 20 songs from a CD, it was very easy. The only problem was every song had to be renamed. All 20 songs had the name Track 1, Track 2, Track 3 & so on.
Is there a Free program i can use that will take the proper names from the CD without me having to rename each song?
Have a goodaytoya all,
GSL

Try Windows Media Player/Winamp.

One GREAT tool is dBamp Music Converter. Its worth a try for sure!

Most rippers, this includes Windows Media Player, allow you to connect to a data base to download the title of the CD and all track titles on that CD. Obviously you must connect to the Internet and allow the program to access it.

I've no idea how it works, I assume each CD has a code written into it somewhere.

By the way im ripping fr CDs to MP3s.
Hi foreveranuj,thanks for responding.
I tried ripping with Windows M Player several times but i keep getting the following error,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Windows Media Player cannot rip the track because a compatible MP3 encoder is not installed on your computer. Install a compatible MP3 encoder or choose a different format to rip to (such as Windows Media Audio).
If i go along with them ill be paying for an upgrade.
I sure wish i knew how to fix. I upgraded Windows M Player quite often but still no fix.
Havaniceday.

There are lots of programs that can identify the contents of the CD. Are you talking about identifying and renaming the files after they have been burned to your hdd?

I use Real One Player , for ripping CDs and music, and have about 5500 songs.
When inserting a CD, most have the title, artist and tracks detected automatically by linking with an online database.
More unusual albums have to have the information input manually.

Hi Jennifer,
when the songs are ripped from a CD to a folder in my Documents, the songs are all named Track 1, Track 2, & so on.
Then i have to rename each song to their proper names, the names that are on the CDs.

As hinted in one of the responses above, you need a CD rip program that offers ID3 Tag v1 & v2 support.

Use Audiograbber to rip your music cd's, this will retrieve the track info from FReeDB with the click of a button. It's freeware as well.
