When I try to delet some folders, I get an error confirmation message box that says "Renaming, moving or deleting '?' could make some programs not work. Are you sure you want to do this?". What would make Windows ask that? I'm also curious what settings was changed to make it do that. Is it a registry value? If I delete a registry value, will the error confirmation message not appear again for that folder? Thanks

It's a catch all message for dummies who don't know what they are doing.
There are a multitude of reasons why deleting a folder could stop something from working. It all depends what is in the folder and which folder it is.

What folders are you trying to delete? If you're attempting to delete folders created for a software program, then that error is normal. If you don't want the folders, uninstall the program properly.

And yes, it 'is' because one (or more) applications in the folder are associated with Registry entries.
Do yourself a favor BACKUP!
