Renaming file from within Firefox browser

Cannot rename file anymore on mozilla firefox like i used to be able to do. message appears'if you rename file, it may not....

TOOM, be sure you're renaming it with the same file extension. .jpg - .jpg etc. If you change it at all, your machine becomes confused.

THANKS FOR THE HELP,ED. I'LL TRY YOUR SUGGESTION.
I WAS TRYING TO SAY ALSO, THAT ALL THIS TIME UP UNTIL ABOUT A WEEK AGO, I COULD RENAME A FILE WITHOUT ANY KIND OF FILE EXTENSION

What exactly are you trying to do? How can you change a file in Firefox?

TOOM, assume you're talking about the RIGHTCLICK menu for the rename? On mine, I must put in the extension for it to work. Seems it doesn't retain the old info and automatically add it.
