Specs: Windows XP
I have a folder called receipts on the local C: drive. I want to write a batch file that will rename the folder called receipts to receipts001, 002, 003 and so on each time I log in.

cocos, I'm confused. Wanna alter the folder itself (copy/paste with new name) or the folders contents (same sort of deal. Copy and manipulate copy).
A folder can handle a lot of files and perhaps you can delete the oldest file after writing the newest?

The files in the folder will need to be kept. The folder named receipts needs to rename itself to something like receipts001 and then receipts002 and so on. The folder does not need to be moved to another location, its best it stays in the same directory location.
Do you know what commands will get my batch file to do consecutive numbering in conjunction with a rename?
I have so far written
@echo off
rename c:\folderlocation\foldername receipts001
