My son installed Yahho messenger toolbar and then decided to uninstall it. Instead of goinf to ADD/REMOVE under Control panel he used the uninstall file located in the Yahoo messenger directory ( very unwise thing to do ). This removed the Yahho messenger directory but did not remove it from the registry. If I go the the Add/Remove and double click the Yahoo messenger entry..nothing happens due to the fact the the "uninstall" reference file was removed. I think I would have to manually delete all references from registry (?) or would I use system restore? Only thing is that I just did a Microsoft Critical Update. Would using system restore Undo this update? Also, if I manually delete from registry how do I back up registry? Would appreciate any help. Thanks.
Would reinstalling Yahoo messenger again enter double entries into the registry?

hi,is the yahoo messenger still showing in the add and remove panel?if so and u want to get rid of it u can safely delete this from the registry so that it removes it completely from add and remove. just follow thease steps got start/and click on run.then type in regedit. once in regedit select file,(top left)and then export registry..this will make a back up off ur registry to be safe.when done cick on the + sign next to HKEY LOCAL MACHINE.A menu will drop down look for microsoft and click the + sign again then select windows and open that up scroll down and select current version(click on the+ sign next to current version) look for uninstall open that up and u will be able to delete messenger from there safely.
