Hey, I have many unchecked entries in my msconfig/startup menu. I have searched endlessly to find out how to remove the unchecked entries but all the solutions i have read about dont work. regcleanup doesnt and i have read that in regedit there should be a folder ......currentversion/run- with the hyphen but i do not have a run with the hyphen. None of the folders i have are followed with a hyphen. I cant find these entries ANYWHERE in the registry - i have also looked at sharedtools/msconfig or something like that. Basically i cant find out any ways to remove these entries - none of them show up anywhere. What can i do. Thanks.

Fazz, If those entries are from programs that were uninstalled try Start/All Programs/Disabled folder. If the Disabled folder is there open it and delete the files you want to get rid of which should erase the entry for those programs in MSCONFIG/Startup list.

Hey, i dont have a start/all programs/disabled folder folder. I forgot to mention that one entry in particular that i want to remove was a file i dl that didnt do anything and it didnt install anything when i ran it so i just deleted it. In msconfig next to it there is a path that leads to where i dl it to but since i deleted it that path no longer exists. Thanks.

Fazz, Startup Control Panel is a Free download and has a "Delete" option which should accomplish what you want to do. Here's the link.

Look in the following places in the registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\SharedTools\MSConfig\startupfolder and also
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shared
Tools\MSConfig\startupreg

Thanks alot, for some reason i missed the entry in msconfig/startup. I went to it and just deleted it and all its subkeys - thats how to do it right? Thanks again.

Put a check mark in them in msconfig then restart and then you can delete them in the regedit under run , just remember there is two runs, current user and local machine, any that are on the start/programs/start-up/you can right click and delete, just make sure you don't need them first.
