removing startup items in msconfig

i have several items in my system configuation utility startup tab that are unchecked and would like to remove them. however i can't find these items listed in the registry to remove them.looked under: hklm/software/microsoft/windows/current version/run and runonce and runonceex. how to i remove these items?

I recommend you download and install the tiny, excellent piece of freeware called Startup Control Panel. It will allow you to disable and delete all startup items which exist in a variety of different places around your system.

But to properly answer your question: have you tried looking under HKEY_CURRENT_USER instead? As in, this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
