Afternoon, I've got hold of an old hard drive that I've put in my PC for a bit of extra storage. Its in and working fine but it is partitioned and I'd like to remove it. How would I go about doing this? It doesn't matter if any data on there is lost, in fact it would be a bonus. I understand re-formatting it would do the job, how would I do this? Obviously I don't want to loose the data on my main hard drive. Any help would be greatfully appreciated. Cheers.

Providing the drive is installed properly and working go to Adminastrive Tools > Computer Management in Windows. Select Disk Management and you can format the partions from there, delete partions and create and format new ones as required.

Stuart, Thanks for the reply. I've been into disk management and can reformat the partitions and remove the partition, but it leaves me with a block of "unallocated space". I can't work out how to allocate this space to one partition so that the drive is one volume, not split into various partitions. Does that make sense?

Once you have deleted all the partions, right click on the Un-allocated Space and you will get the option New Partiton. Click it and answer the questions in the wizard and you are done.
