Comment:

I have started using a computer at home that was previously hooked up to a network via a server. At the moment I have to go ctl/alt/del after a prompt, which brings me to the old network login where I have to enter a password. I would appreciate some advice as to how to remove this now non existent network login & password.

Many thanks
Dennis

Unfortunately there isn't an option to uncheck re user name & password. All I really want to do is to be able to log straight on to my account without the computer trying to to go onto the old server. The way it currently appears in user acccounts, shows the company as the domain against my name.

Thanks
Dennis

You have to take the computer OUT of the domain and put it into a workgroup. Right click my computer, goto properties, computer name, click on Change, select the workgroup radio button, type in a workgroup name and click ok. it will then ask you for the administrators password. Do you know it? After you type that in, click ok and reboot.

if it was on a domain, you may have to be connected to the domain to remove it from the domain. at the least you'll have to know the nw admin password to do it.

Thanks,

Yes I know the Administrator password.
If I remove the computer from the domain to the workgroup as suggested, will all my settings & data remain accesible?
