Removing hotfix in media player

CPU/Ram: amd 2.6gz

I downloaded the windows media player ver10. It copied over version 9 but I still have hotfixes pretaining to the old version in my add/remove section of the control panel. When i click remove, I get an error message telling me certain programs(such as photoshop,etc) might not work if I remove it...is it still safe to remove anyway?
I am trying to eliminate wasted space on my computer.

Have you considered adding a second hard drive? It's normally not that difficult.

Yes, i am doing that now but why keep a patch for a program you no longer have?

Who knows, the patch might be applicable to both 9 and 10. Personally, I wouldn't mess with it.

Arbitrarily deleting patches isn't the way to free up hard disk space! If Windows tells you it might affect another program, doubly so.
