For some ODD reason, the photos in My Pictures have wound up in my list of desk top themes. How can I eliminate them? I've read old threads on desk top themes and didn't find anyone wanting to remove them. SURELY, there is a way...there's a SLEW of 'em in that list. UGH!

Thanks!

I'm not real swift on this XP, yet, but....the desk tops I want to get rid of are not under the theme tab, but under the desk top tab...and I don't have a delete option under the desktop tab. When I right click on the ones I don't want in there, "What's this?" pops up.
LOL!!! I have no idea what that is! tee-hee!

Can you maybe explain it to me in "slower English"? Sorry, but...I can't figure out how to delete them, because they are under the desk top tab and not the themes tab.

Thanks for the search thingy tho! I didn't know I could do that.

Open up C:\WINDOWS in My Computer, and see if the photos in the "Backgrounds" list you are talking about are in the Windows directory by accident.

If yes, try moving the photos from there and see if that helps.

If your photos (or copies of them) are not in the Windows directory (or they were but moving them did not help), then I think the problem is a registry entry that points to your photos, directing Windows to put those filenames in the "Backgrounds" list. You need to find that registry entry and delete/change it using the REGEDIT command from START--->RUN. This is where I can't help you because I'm not sure which registry entry it is that is responsible for your problem. (there are thousands of registry entries.)

Sorry, this isn't a very helpful post but it's a start. Can someone else in the forum fill in the gap from here?

UGH!!!! In the display settings, I just read this..."You can use a personal picture as a background. All of your personal pictures located in My Pictures are listed by name in the Background list." SOOOOO...am I incorrect in assuming that I need to delete the pics in MY PICTURES to be able to get them out of the list for desk tops?

Scribe 139...THANKS! LOL!!! I figured out how to do what you said in C, but couldn't find "Backgrounds" listed.
