How do I remove all the desktop icons and put them somewhere where I can find them? The Recycle Bin insists on staying at the top upper corner of the screen when all the other icons are removed. I'm trying to tidy my desktop up and use the Vaio navigator bar instead...

Hi Windoze, hello everyone,

Right click on a blank area of the desktop and select Arrange Icons By.

Ensure that Auto Arrange is not checked.

Best Regards,
Mesich

Windoze, Go to the link below and under "Some of the frequently used Tips & fixes for Windows® XP" tou'll find a reg hack to download & run "Hide the Recycle Bin from Desktop". There's also a reg hack "Show Recycle Bin in Desktop" on the same line in case you want it back.

Windoze, Before using the reg hacks above why don't you just right click your desktop>arrange icons by and uncheck "Show desktop icons". This hides all the icons including the Recycle Bin.

Hi guys,

many thanks - I've only got one icon on the Desktop - the Recycle bin!

Tried renaming it, changing the icon size and font to no avail.

Looks like it's possible to change the Recycle bin icon to a tree, and then using the suggestion above, move the tree so that the words 'Recycle Bin' are hidden behind the Sony Vaio menubar (resembles an Apple menu start-up!)

I'm happy with this arrangement - now to find out why my screen is on the blink.

Thanks for all your kind support. I'll look into the hack - it looks fascinating!
