How do i get rid?

By deleting its folder in C:??

Hi, I too am trying to remove a program.

I'm trying to remove Microsoft Plus! Photo Story 2 LE using the 'add or remove programs' but an error occurs (error 27000 -fatal error during installation). So I deleted the file from my hard drive, edited the registry, plus even tried reinstalling -but to no avail.

Nb. After deleting from the registry Microsoft Plus! Photo Story 2 LE is still shown in 'add or remove programs' but its "remove" button is gone. I can bring it back by restoring that branch of the registry.

I am using Windows XP SP2

Did you Google that error?

Also, if you removed all entries from the Registry (specifically HKLM\Software\program name, the program will no longer be listed in Add/Remove Programs.

Life's more painless for the brainless.

- you can usually fix the problem you had initially by installing the program again, then the un-install will usually work fine.

You can probably get rid of the non working entry in Add/Remove and at least some other leftover registry entries by using the Windows Installer Cleanup utility (search for that on the Microsoft site), and deleting the entry for the program you removed.

That's good to hear, but it would be helpful to others who come across this thread who have a similar problem for you to provide the details of what you did to solve your problem(s).

Deleting a program's folder is a last resort. If installing the program made entries in the Regisry, or installed files elsewhere in Windows, e.g. often in C:\Windows\System32, they are not removed when you delete the folder.
Deleting the folder worked for you this time, but you should not do that for many programs - deleting the folder can cause all sorts of error messages about problems you caused because you deleted the folder that you need to resolve in many cases.
