Removing 2nd XP OS

Specs: windows XP, 1 GB
Hi, guys.

Recently, I upgraded my XP sp2 to XP sp3. But somehow during (or before) the installation, I've make a mistake. I've installed the XP sp3 os on my Drive (D:). When I boot up, there was choices menu which ask what OS I want to boot within 30 second. So, the question is, how do I remove the 2nd XP on my machine? I want to remove it completely, at least I can gain more capacity of hard disk after I remove the 2nd one...

Thanks in advance

You cannot create a second installation of XP by installing SP3. When installing any XP service pack the installation will automatically install itself in the current installation. The user has no control over that. They don't even have any control over where the temporary files are stored as the installation will create a folder on the drive with the most free space. Are you sure that these are not the files that you are looking at, in which case they can just be deleted.

If you do indeed have a second installation of XP, it most certainly was not SP3 that put it there, You must have run the Windows XP installation disk to do that.

You can remove the second installation simply by booting to the first and deleting the folder with the second installation. You will then need to modify boot.ini to remove any reference to the second instillation.
