Hi,
I have a laptop with WinXP Pro and Internet Explorer 8.
I have absolutely no need for accelerator function. Every time I try to highlight some text, my CPU usage goes way up. I have removed all accelerators from 'Accelerator manager'. I have disabled the accelerator button in internet options. Still I think some accelerator related code is running when I highlight text on a page.
How do I completely remove accelerator function?

Thank you.

Try removing IE8. Start using IE7 to make sure it works properly, then install IE8 again and select no accelerators during the installation.

So what's the problem with increased CPU usage
when you are asking the CPU to do more work?

Whatever program you are running to monitor CPU activity is also using the CPU at an increased level to provide you with the monitoring function.

There is nothing to learn from someone who already agrees with you.
