Hi, I have this problem. I have a HD drawer tat will allow me to add in HD from my friends to do back up or share info. But sometimes when I start my PC, XP doesn't seem to find my CD-ROM in Windows Exploer. Which means that I can't play CD-ROM. Restarting solves the problem. But this is not what I wanted. How do I configure my PC or do anything that will ensure that XP always find my CD-ROM?

You know, the engineers that designed that CD drive and who wrote the driver software probably had the best of intentions. Someone in marketing probably told them, "Listen, this CD drive is going on the market right now no matter what, because we aren't going to give our competitors the chance to gobble up our share of the market." You want to fix all the problems with CD drives? Gather up all the marketing people and put 'em on a space ship to Mars with George Bush and Dick Chaney. Everything will run smoothly after that. Contact the drive manufacturer and see if they have a driver update. If not, your options are to use a drive from another company, or get used to reinstalling the driver periodically,... or, get used to rebooting every time you want to use that drive.
