Greetings,
I am attempting to manage a file server I have at home that runs WinXP w/SP3. When I attempt to connect using EITHER the terminal services client app that came with Ubuntu 8.10, or using XP's own remote desktop connection utility, I put in the IP of the file server, and I hit the connect button. I dont get any errors, it just pops up a black window for maybe 1 second, then it disappears and i am back at the connect dialogue box. Any advice? (I made sure that on the xp box i am trying to remote into that it has remote sessions enabled).
Thanks!
Couple things:
Have you confirmed that your username is added to the Remote Desktop Users Group on the destination machine
That the Terminal Services service is actually started on the remote machine?
And, third, that Remote Desktop connections are enabled on the destination machine?

You need to enable the remote desktop correctly in XP, then test to connect from other computer on same network. Also ensure no firewall blocking (Windows firewall, Antivirus firewall, etc) on that remote desktop enabled computer.
