Hello all. Well. I might the minority of the users of Windows XP Pro, but i love it. I just started using the Remote Desktop Web Connection built into xp and now can connect to my home pc while at work. After doing this a few times, i started thinking about the security issues involved. I could not find too many articles on the web about the security issues. Does anyone know what might be some possible vulnerabilities by using this service? I also run a webserver and FTP server. Does having a NTFS partition make for a more secure computer? Again, thanks for looking at my post, peace seamonkey420
just having ntfs itself doesn't make it more secure...you have to use the ntfs features like file encryption, etc. Anyway, there are probably security vulnerabilities...just give the hackers some time. You know the Windows XP built-in administrator account that can only be accessed in safe mode? its default password is blank, and so it's oftentimes a target for attack. Also net shares, etc...although these aren't necessarily associated with remote desktop.
do you know if rmeote desktop uses an encrypted connection? I use netmeeting to connect from home...it requires that i encrypt the connection if i want to access my computer remotely
