Can or does remote desktop run through the vpn tunnel if one connects via vpn? That is to say is the remote desktop now on the VPN ports and fully part of the tunnel? If not then how to configure to work. I have limited understanding of using vnc through ssh.

My corporate firewall seems to be able to block packets based on remote desktop no matter what port if move to, even 80. I know I can wait until I get home normally but I have to take a class in the next state and would like to access my home computer via corp wan. Corp IT would never get to that ticket if I asked. Still waiting on a new phone.

Yes you can use RDP in VNC.
After connecting to the VPN wait about 2-3 min.
connect to the PC Via the netbios name or internal network IP to tunnel the connection through.

OK, you suggest that I use VNC instead of remote desktop as the vnc is now ipsec'd after the vpn connection? So I wouldn't need to open any of the normal vnc ports?
Thanks.

Don't know much about this but if you are connecting to home computer from work do you even need a vpn tunnel? I though that was if you wanted to get into a firewalled network from the outside, not if you are in the firewalled network trying to remote out?

This might not get a reply now that it is a page back but here you go.

It is because of not only port type of firewall they have a packet sniffer that stops rdp packets. If I used a ipsec tunnel then the packets ought to be encrypted. I can make my own certificate and load it on both sides so I can up the level.

The question was if the VPN would in fact tunnel all the traffic such as RDP. I assume it would not after reading a report of possible RDP via SSH in 2003 server RC2.
