I have an XP pro machine connected to a laptop (running xp pro) computer with a crossover cable. They both ping, and can establish connectivity. However, when I attempt to establish a remote desktop connection from the laptop into the desktop, it allows me to authenticate, then begins to load the desktop, and the remote computer (desktop) locks up and has to be restarted.
Occasionally I will be able to use the remote desktop feature for 1-2 minutes, but the remote computer always locks up everytime I connect to it.
The laptop does not lock up at all, and I have tried using 3 different computers connecting into the remote desktop. The strange thing here is that I reinstalled windows only 2 days ago, and you would think nothing would be corrupt.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Have you ran all your critical updates, or any suggested updates for XP on the machine that is crashing?
Additionally have you checked the Even Viewer to see if there are any errors as to why it's crashing?
Also run "dxdiag" and/or use device manager to see if you have any issues (drivers or otherwise) with your graphics card. I have seen RDC crash a remote computer due to bad drivers on the remote/host. This is likely becuase the remote's vid card is what re-rendering the desktop for the client/connecting pc (at least that's what I think).
Anyway.. post back any more info and we can help out some more.
