To do this, simply create a shortcut that points to:

%windir%\explorer.exe "hcp://CN=Microsoft%20Corporation,L=Redmond,S=Washington,C=US/Remote%20Assistance/Escalation/Uns

This came from here, it's amazing what Google turns up in a search...

Or create a shortcut to:

%SystemRoot%\system32\mstsc.exe

Of course, this is found only in WinXP Pro and not in WinXP Home edition.

The Remote Desktop Client can be run from either version of XP as well as many other versions of Windows and even on Macs. The Home version of XP just can't act as a Remote Desktop server.

Ya, I was too busy to correct/specify that and came back now to do so but it has already been said. Tks

What I don't happen to know off hand is if, like on a Win98 PC, does the client software also need to be installed on WinXP Home or does it come native to it out of the box?

That is what I was really referring to in my original post. Suggesting that if it is not found now then perhaps it was never there in he first place on a WinXP Home PC.

Your question doesn't make sense as you ask about W98 and then change to WXP?

The Remote Desktop client is installed by default on both versions of Win XP. On Win 98 I believe you will need to download the free client from MS.

The client can be installed onto a Win98 PC using the WinXP Pro installation CD. It does not need to be downloaded.

You have answered the other portion of the question by stating that the client software is already installed on a WinXP Home PC by default (unlike a Win98 PC).
