Comment:

When trying to connect remote assistance get the following error message - "Remote Assistance connection could not be established because the remote host name could not be resolved. Please try again."
Can anyone please suggest a way around this problem. (btw have tried disabling the firewall but still unable to connect and getting same error message.

remote assistance to a local pc, or one located off net?
if local, try using ip address, or enable DNS on your network

Does the person you are connecting to have a router? If so then the invitation that they send you will not have the correct IP address. It will have the internal LAN IP address of the computer they are using.

If this is the case there is a way around it. I'll spare you the explanation in case this is not your problem. If this is the case then e-mail me (scadam526@gmail.com) and I can explain how to get around it.

Also, make sure that on your friends PC they have checked "Allow Remote Assistance invitations to be sent from this computer." To get to this you right click "My Computer", click "Properties", select the "Remote" tab and the check box is there.
