Remote Assistance in Windows XP
I’m trying to make a remote assistance connection, but get an error message saying
that ..the remote hostname could not be resolved..The ip number to the novice computer is correct stated in the .MsRcIncident file but the computers does not respond to a netscan
or even a ping and is of course connected to the internet. The novice computer is running home version and the expert is running the pro version of xp.
Norton antivirus has been stopped
I thought that port 3389 would be listening on the novice computer when running netstat –a –n, but it’s not.
I have read all the articles on below search
http://search.support.microsoft.com/search/default.aspx?withinResults=false&QuerySource=gsfxAdvancedSearch_Query&Product=msall&Queryc=remote+assistance&Query=remote+assistance&KeywordType=ALL&maxResults=25&Titles=false&numDays=&Catalog=LCID%3D1033%26CDID%3DEN-US-KB%26PRODLISTSRC%3DON
The following can be read; Windows XP ICF Internet Connection Firewall (ICF) is designed to allow novice or expert requests to work. Remote Assistance works if either the novice or the expert is behind ICF. The question is if both computers are behind the ICF?
Any ideas appreciated as I’m going crazy soon

****
