i've been having this problem for two days now; i switched on my computer as usual, click on my dialup internet connection, and nothing happens. i found out later that it's been missing from the networking folder. creating a new one, isnt allowed either anymore. i've troubleshoot online a bit and realised that my Remote Access Connection Manager Service cannot be started, but my Telephony service is fine. so far, i've tried the following troubleshoots i found here and on other sites; 1. reinstall servicepack1 and its related registry work 2. reinstall sr.inf 3. reinstall tcp/ip (dun) 4. stopping and restarting the 3 RAS services 5. uninstall and reinstalling modem and none of the above have fixed the issue. the usual error numbers 5 and 71 have appeared too. in the events log; i get this; -------- Event Type: Error Event Source: RemoteA„” Event Category: None Event ID: 20069 Date: 7/17/2004 Time: 9:46:11 PM User: N/A Computer: AVEX Description: The description for Event ID ( 20069 ) in Source ( RemoteA„” ) cannot be found. Data: 0000: 02 00 00 00 ... -------- i think this is the culprit. does anybody have any idea what this error msg is trying to say? thanks
