Hi does anyone know of a good product that could be used like PC Anywhere but over the internet? We have a DSL line with a Netopia Router, we seem to have firewall issues and can not get a connection. I have tried eblvd, VNC, and sunbelt. Any suggestions? I am told it should work, but I need to open up specific ports. I am testing it out on a Lynksys Router over a cable modem and even though i though I opened up the ports, I still am unable to get a connection. FYI: I use a 10.0.XX.XX IP Scheme, and am not sure if that is a part of the problem. Thanks in advance... jp

If you are using windows XP, then it already has the software built into it.
Goto Properties of My Computer Goto the Remote tab
then to access your PC you can either place these 2 files on a disk and punch in your ip. or use TSWEB if it is set up on the client PC. mstsc.exe and mstscax.dll

John,
What do you mean by "over the internet"? I am running PCanywhere from home on my XP box and have no problems accessing it from work. I do use the 192.XXX.- not sure if that is a factor though. XP does have built in remote connection software but I have been told that both machines need to have XP on them.

john p, all the programs you mentioned should work 'over the internet'. However, you need to open the appropriate ports on your router AND map them to the host computer on your internal network. I suspect that is where your problem lies.
