I have a firewall that controls all movement into and from from my computer. Last night something called HPSdpApp.exe (HP SDP Application Module) kept trying to access the net. I did a Google search and got no matches on it. I searched the HP site and my ISP's site for this thing, with no matches at all. I searched my own computer's help files, with no results.

I ran a virus scan and Ad Aware, but neither found anything. (Ad Aware disliked some cookies, so I deleted them and rebooted, but it didn't affect this problem.)

With this HPSdpApp.exe request for access comes an IE-like window. It has 'Reminder (time)' at the top, with the current time/date for (time), but fails to connect to a server. Also, there's no way to close that window, even through right-clicking on the task bar.

This annoying 'Reminder' window just keeps popping up again and again and again. I wonder if anyone knows what it is, and how to get rid of it?

Thanks!

A shot in the dark....
An HP laptop with wireless setup?

Service Discovery Protocol (SDP)
The service discovery protocol (SDP) provides a means for applications to discover which services are available and to determine the characteristics of those available services.

A specific Service Discovery protocol is needed in the Bluetooth environment, as the set of services that are available changes dynamically based on the RF proximity of devices in motion, qualitatively different from service discovery in traditional network-based environments. The service discovery protocol defined in the Bluetooth specification is intended to address the unique characteristics of the Bluetooth environment
Probably a miss on this one, but......

One out of three! :) It is a HP machine, but it's a desktop and not wireless.

The odd thing is, this just started happening out of the blue last night. I haven't installed anything new, and I hadn't even done a reboot for nearly a week before it started...

That pop up is from Easy Internet Sign Up. It's just AOL sign up. I deleted most of that program months ago but just started getting this reminder. I went to search all files and folders, then typed in HPSdpApp.exe, it brought up the file and I deleted it to the recycle bin. I just did that now and the pop up is gone. LOL, it was getting to us too with no way to close it. Both my husband and I were getting that on our HP laptops.
