And you WILL stand at attention, raise your right hand, face the Great Northwest of the Kingdom of Redmond and give the universally acknowledged one finger salute. -E.

You haven't read the EULA. It's not yours! He is only giving you license to use it.

It's like owning your own home. You don't own it. Pay off the mortgage and don't pay property taxes and see how long you own it. The government owns your home, you just rent it from them.

No, Eminent domain is the law that says the government can expropriate your property for the general good of the government after paying you a fair price for it.

You can still choose NOT to install SP2 after April 12th. The "block" (for lack of a better term) only allows administrators to not have SP2 show up in the critical updates when automatic updates is enabled. That way client PCs in a large organization will not automatically be updated until the IT departments have time to test SP2 in their production evnironments.

After April 12, SP2 will be included in the critical updates regardless of any settings. As an individual user you still have the option not to install any specific updates.

Personally I see no reason not to update, but some people may be running some critical software which does not have a patch for SP2 - or they're just paranoid. You know Bill can see you through your monitor, right?

I currently have SP2 sitting in my download notification taskbar and it's been there for about 2 months. I haven't downloaded it yet because of the bad things going on with it. I don't know much about fixing things and some of those post scare me.

Is it best to do this install now or just wait for Microsoft to force me into it?

I'm not ignorant, I just need more learning!
