Can anyone tell me how to uninstall Windows XP and reinstall Windows 98? I'm having so many problems with XP that I want to go back to 98. I have 2 hard drives, one is 6 giga bites that came with my computer and one is 40 giga bites. I switch them back and forth depending on which works the best. XP is always giving me error messages and so is Internet Explore 6. 98 didn't act like this. Even though I love XP and want to upgrade from 98, I am so frustrated with the problems. I have reinstalled XP a million times, I format NTFS and FAT32, I really don't know what I'm doing I just go from one to the other when it is deplayed on my screen, lately NTFS is the only one coming up. Please help me to either get XP to work right or get 98 back. What is the bios disk and do I need to use it to get back to 98?
Thanks.

To get back to "98" use a Win98 boot disk that has format.com and Fdisk.exe on it. Then format your partition(s), then run Win98 s/u

Did you upgrade to xp on both hard drives? Do you switch them out (both C:drives)?
If you installed over the top of 98 and did not convert to ntfs, you can revert back to 98 by going to Add/Remove Programs and removing XP. This will bring you back to your 98 configuration. If you installed "clean" and or converted to ntfs, you will as the previous poster noted, have to reformat and install.

I did upgrade on both hard drives. I just unscrew the hard drive and put the other one in. I upgraded over 98 on the 6 giga byte, Best Buy installed my 40 giga byte hard drive original and when I brough it home they had put XP on it, it is the Home upgrade version. Someone told me that it may not be compatible with my mother board. Can that be the problem? Have any one else had problems with upgrading from 98 to XP?

Your post is very confusing...
What kind of errors are being generated?
Are they just error messages or are they lockups or reboots?
When you got the 40 gig drive and it had XP on it (strange) did you set it up for your hardware? (i.e. install the drivers for your mobo and let XP redetect the hardware)?
XP runs without a hitch on my PC; 98 was a dog.
Your many crashes sound like bad ram or a video card overheating. You also need to make sure that XP service packs are installed.
I suggest that you do a clean install of XP on the 40 gig drive. Installing over Windows 98 was a disaster for me.

Do not FDISK or FORMAT unless you have backed-up all critical info, but if you do want to have a good running config of WIN98, you will need to format and start fresh, but Burn lots of CD's to backup info first!!!
Always do a clean install!!!!
But back-up first!!!!

Thanks everyone for responding to my post. The type of error messages that I receive are "Windows explore is have a problem and needs to shut down now" or I can't open Internet explorer or MSN explore and sometimes the Control panel won't open. Everytime I try to install windows xp service pack it won't take it. When I try to do all of the critical updates it won't take it, it tells me about some kind of cabinet error. Sometimes it keeps rebooting. I have reinstalled xp on my 40 gig more than 5 times. Should the hard drive be formated NTFS or FAT32?
