Hi, I'm sure this question has been asked many times, but i can't find exactly what i'm looking for, so i'll write a new message: I am currently formating my harddrive, (using a boot disk and typing format c:) and i'm planing on reinstalling win xp. I'm just wondering, will i just need to restart the comp. after format is complete, and insert my xp cd in the cd-rom and type setup? Is it that simple? Also, I've read a few messages about FAT 32 and NTFS... will it prompt me which one i want to use, or will it automatically choose? Any help is appreciated... Thanks

you can't format your drive with a 98 disk and expect it to work with XP. you need to format using your XP CD.
if your drive is larger than 32GB you should use NTFS. it will ask you during setup.

If you want to get rid of the current harddrive space you have and reinstall windows. Just make your CD rom boot up in dos. Stick the disk in and let Windows XP run. It will come and ask if you want to install new and then it will ask you if want to change or get rid of your current partition. If you delete your partition it deletes the info on the drive too. You kill two birds with one stone.
