My mother is getting a lot of script errors when she is on the net.Is there any way of reinstalling internet explorer 7 over her already installed version?

you can uninstall ie7 from add or remove programs. then you can download and install ie7 from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/do...

Here's a MSKB article on (re)installation of IE7:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917...
It's a good day when you learn something

why not just go to tools/internet options/advanced and then put a checkmark beside disable script debugging (internet explore) and disable script debugging (other)
That should rectify your problemHopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

I've done the disable script thing, and virtually every other solution and nothings worked. Her search companion vanished amongst other things,im just getting through all of her problems one at a time here :-)

Does this installation have to be 'Validated?'She does have a windows CD but its an OEM one, will this cause a problem?

during instalation and before downloading, it will need to validate the system.
if she has a legal copy of windows xp, it won't matter if it was an OEM or not.
go to this link to see if her windows is genuine:

why not do an sfc /scannow? You have the disk to replace the files. If that doesn't work, how about a repair install?
Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

I've had to do the sfc /scannow thing a few times now.Pc just keeps reverting back to the faults,no search companion, cant do windows updates, script errors to name but a few!I've been told repair installs aren't that great by a computer shop?
