after i reinstalled xp and went to check my system restore settings, the system said that it couldn't find systemrestore in a dll. Idon't want to bother with reinstalling again, so if there's any other way to fix this problem, i would gladly appreciate it

You could try the System File Checker (click Start => Run, then type "sfc" and click OK); have the XP CD handy since it may need to copy files off of it.
