I've been trying to connect to the internet for a few days now, and I keep getting error message 638. I called the ISP and was told (after rebooting and whatnot) that I'd need to reinstall Windows. One problem - I don't have the disk. Is there any way to reinstall Windows XP without it's original disk?

Do you have even a restore disk? If your XP is legal you should have either a full CD or a restore disk that came with the system. I don't think these errors can be solved without a reinstal and you cannot reinstal without one or other type of disk.

I have a HP computer,i bought brand new and it didn't come with disk.Upon restart at the tittle screen i hit F10 and this boots-up windows.it then gives me the choice of clean install or just a repair.so maybe yours came that way.couldn't hurt to try.it could be any (F) key othen then F1 and F8 which is the B.I.O.S and safe mode.maybe you'll get lucky and i'm right! good luck...
